Minister welcomes business bill announcement - 18/07/2013

Small and medium-sized businesses operating in the UK are likely to have felt the pinch during the current economic climate.

Rising energy bills are among the leading causes for concern among both consumers and enterprises, leaving many at risk of financial difficulty.

However, things could soon be set to change for struggling companies, after British Gas announced it will end its auto-rollover billing policy for business energy users.

Supporting the move, secretary of state Greg Barker said it is vital for the government and businesses to take action to help small businesses grow and flourish.

He added: "That's why my department has been working with the prime minister and industry to encourage action on issues important to small business growth."

As part of the plans, companies could find it easier to find a cheaper deal on their gas and electricity use - meaning they are able to focus more attention on growth opportunities.
